Kando、 is a photobook by Harumichi Saito, published by Akaaka Art Publishing in December 2019 as the long-awaited sequel to his first book, Kando (2011). It holds 121 photographs and was reprinted after selling out.
The story behind the book
What is kando, the feeling of being deeply moved? Saito has kept photographing in a rich silence, avoiding putting words to things and facing what he does not understand. He sensed that being moved is the starting point of everything, both as a photographer and as a person: the moment when beings who are alive here and now cross paths.
The small comma in the title holds a wish: that what deepens inside each of us, quietly, like water wearing away stone, keeps going toward a future that is not yet finished.
