Ureshii Seikatsu

Ureshii Seikatsu ("A Happy Life") is the first photobook by Ichiko Uemoto. It follows the years in which she met her husband, married, gave birth and watched her children grow, and then lost her husband. Published by Kawade Shobo Shinsha in 2019.

The story behind the book

Uemoto is also known in Japan for her diaries and essays about family life. In this book she turns the same everyday life into photographs, recording a family as it searches for its own shape over many years.

About Ichiko Uemoto

Born in 1984 in Hiroshima, Uemoto received an Excellence Award at Canon New Cosmos of Photography in 2003. Her books include Kanawanai and Kazoku Saigo no Hi.
